Beautiful. Just plain beautiful. Yes sir, you've really caught the backwoodsy feel in this engine terminal. Right on, daddio!

Say, what's that "red diamond" steamer back there ? Is this one of your models, Wayne?

I'm looking forward to more "photographs"! And I'm glad you're still having fun with this, it really shows. :thumbup3: :thumbup3:

That's a model by Smokebox. He's one of Railworks' most talented modelers.

Fantastic work on the route, Wayne! I could see Camfor becoming a tourist line if the forests are depleted.

Thanks Tim and Chris,

> what's that "red diamond" steamer back there ?

The one in the roundhouse is an old timey 2-8-0 made by a guy named Smokebox. In another scene there is a shay loco by Britkits.

I am just using them as temporary power on my Camfor branch. Eventually I'd like to build a couple of interesting critters like these that I photographed on Vancouver Island.

PS - thanks Mipman - our notes crossed up.

Same here. I always had an attraction to them myself, especially the 2-8-2T Minarets. This little Prarie sure has it's drivers spread out, likely it originally had larger diameter wheels, having been swapped for the smaller ones for better tractive effort.

That might explain the awkward look. It sure isn't pretty. But the pacific northwest was home to a lot of oddball looking rolling stock so it should fit right in.

Swapping driver diameter can cause a domino effect in regards to other elements.

I suspect the drivers were spaced as depicted to spread as much weight of the locomotive out over the TE wheelbase as possible.

However, that's speculation on my part, too. :pleasantry:

That occurred to me also. Brake rigging would have to be rebuilt, wouldn't it? It's an interesting little lokie.

Hi Folks,

You want odd - lol - (this is what I get for perusing Dave's old railroad pub links) - animate this - I haven't a clue what they're trying to do with all those moving parts - just keep your hands and arms clear... I've looked at this locomotive a couple times in wonder... Probably similar in function to the one posted above but far more complicated...
