Hey guys, I noticed a severe bug here. I was running the Indian Railway route earlier, and the speed display in the F4 Monitor shows in KM/H as it should, however.. The F5 display still reads in MPH. Is there a fix for this? And I am running ver X2930

Hi Kazareh,
I see that you are in the US, so if your Open Rails General Options are set so that "Other Units" is set to "System", then ORTS will have used the settings from your Windows "Language and Region" setup to chose the units for the F5 HUD. The F4 display is set by the data in the route files.
Open the Open Rails Options panel, and select "Metric" for "Other Units" while you are running metric country routes.
I posted a similar complaint earlier, before the system was explained to me.

(This info will be in the book! (the Manual) - next release.)

Cheers,
Sid.

Oh geez, is there a way that it will automatically work the F5 menu rather than having to constantly change it manually...?

I´m not at my computer now, but AFAIK, a ¨Route defined¨ setting is missing.

Maybe something for the wishlist? :thumbup3:

Cheers, Markus

In release 2951 a further selection is possible in the "Other units" combo box, called "Route": it selects metric units (for all physical units except pressure) if metric units are defined in the route's TRK file, coherently with the track monitor. The "System" selection has been renamed "Player's location".

Unless it works correctly in the UK (which it didn't prior to this), I don't think that name is very suitable.

Should the MaxVelocity kph or mph as shown in *.ENG and Cabview *.ACE files be used in the F5-Hud and not what the country uses it is running in ?

James, do you prefer that I revert to "System"?

Otto, in general metric locos are run in metric routes, and not metric locos in not metric routes. If this does not occur, it is only in test runs, so the two solutions are - almost - equivalent.

I'd really like the System/Player's location option to work in the UK - so in the code, that probably means setting IsUK to true when the region is detected as UK and then making sure the unit conversions understand that IsMetric == true && IsUK == true means they should actually use imperial units in certain cases (like velocity in MPH).

I think it can be easily implemented. Is there a similar wish of Canadian and Australian users? If yes, then what do they prefer? Switch to UK style or US style?
