I was just trying the Acela activity in the NEC4, after reading a new post "Can't Start Acela" in the Discussions Forum, to confirm that it still runs.
I noticed that although the Acela does not have an engine brake (I had forgotten that), when I pressed the key ] for the engine brake, I got a confirmation message, "Engine Brake: 0%" . Of course, there was no effect, and there is no train brake control in the cabview.
This does not happen in MSTS. There is no message.
This may be a bit confusing for new ORTS users - it might look as though the control is broken. Would it be better to follow the MSTS practice and suppress the messages for non-existent controls?
Cheers,
Sid.
