I found the problem, but the fix is not a code fix. As I stated in my previous post, there are issues that may not be handled properly and in this case there was. In this particular model, Wheels11 is defined for the pilot wheel just like in Tim's #53 model. In #53 the spokes for the pilot wheel are defined as Spokes11, but in #483, the spokes are defined as Wheels12. OR can't work with this set up since each Wheels?? entry is for one axle in a bogie. The solution here is to uncompress the shape file and rename Wheels12 to Spokes11.

Would you know with what can I use to uncompress this file? Tried using Route Riter with no success.

Thanks

Mark

Shape File Manager from Steam4Me.net. You can obtain it HERE

They have lots of neat utilities. :good:

OBTW: BACK UP THE FILE BEFORE YOU UNCOMPRESS AND PLAY AROUND WITH IT. Sorry for the scream but this is dangerous ground if you mess it up. :)

I probably should have decided sooner, but with the coming of the official V1, I am going to include the SPOKES naming convention. Hopefully there will be no other naming conventions. I am also working on other fixes in this area as well.

Here's the rub, you don't have to have spokes as a separate object, I've never used it for any of my locomotives from Day One. I've even had quite hi poly wheelsets and never experienced a problem, nor any feedback. This was for MSTS, too.

As well as it's a wheelset, it's a mindset, too, when modelling. Even old MSTS could be quite unexpectedly docile with some things, whereas othertimes it was like a tiger on speed. However, that said, all modellers seems to have different tricks in their kitbags. :)

Cheers Bazza.

You might want to look into the issue with the Milwaukee Boxcab available here as well, it has the whole 'shake' thing going on too.
