Some routes too have a speed sign issue where when a speed post is placed for 'Maximum route speed', it tells you in the F4 menu something like 2279MPH, but then reverts to what the route's top speed is when it takes effect.

Yes, I have actually. I've been running that way since you guys implemented it. Very well aware of it. However, I primarily run passenger trains with Amtrak stock. And my end will clear the speed change, and as the OP said, it won't take effect until I hit the next signal. And from what I can tell, it is absolutely random when it happens.

Here you start for example within a max. allowed speed of 100 km/h.
In a station the exit-signal only allows a reduced speed of 60 Km/h.
After I leave the station there's a speed sign which rises the speed to 100 km/h again but the allowed speed in the track monitor remains 60 km/h...with all consequences (blinking warning light but..thank god...no emergency break).

This observation is intended behavior, due to speed restriction precedence.
There are multiple types of speed restriction: Those implied by the consist (and it´s elements, IE ENGs and WAGs), those implied by the route, those implied by speed posts and those by signals (hope this is somewhat correct). Now, the one of those that takes effect is always the lowest, which in your case is the signal speed limit of 60 kph. That limit will be lifted again at the next clear signal, usually, and you should then be able to resume the 100 kph posted limit.

I have noticed the same problem on "CSX Florida Funnel extra" route.

Hi Markus,
but this seems to be a different behaviour from MSTS, doesn't it ?
Only signals have the "authority" to raise speed limits in OR and not any speed posts ?

This is the same in MSTS, to overwrite a reduced Signalspeed you need a other Signal with clear-state.
Often this is a hidden signal at the end of a station. But this hidden Signals are shown in the trackmonitor
This hidden Signal count also by the calculation of the SigNumClearAhead (...).
In OR exist now a "Signal" with the Signal Type SignalFnType ( SPEED )

This SignalType does only overwrite a reduced signal-speedlimit.
In the Trackmonitor you see only the new speedlimit, but no signal.
