Diesels West recently released a Santa Fe switching activity for the West Colton route. It's a fairly simple activity, involving setouts and pickups; however, in recent builds of OR (X2816 forward), the 26 car static consist that is the second pickup does not appear in the game. I am enclosing two screenshots, both taken at the same point in the activity. In the first, taken while using X2602, the boxcar consist can be seen on the yard track above the lead locomotive:

In the second taken while using X2818, that particular consist does not appear:

The same is true in X2822. I have spent hours searching for a possible reason for the glitch, but as yet I have come up empty.

Just got the act from DW, have not set it up yet. Will be interested to see what happens. I've read the activiity file (I always do that before starting) ... am I correct in assuming this is in the yard where the autoracks are dropped?

(It could be :sign_welcome: :alien: :alien: .... after all this yard is in southern CA. LaLaLand :sign_rockon: ) (actually a reputation that is only partially deserved)

That consist is missing and it is a pickup consist for the activity. Opening the act in the AE I get a consist in collision error (#32874) when verifying starting start.
Got some texture opening errors when trying to "right click" properties on that "missing pickup" consist. (those two errors could be the AE being screwy or something I have to fix)
I don't know if either of those would prevent OR from displaying "missing pickup" consist.

I replaced all the boxcars in the "missing pickup" consist with a default boxcar I know to be good and it still did not show.

Attached is the text file of the three consists on that particular track, Missing one is last. (I hope these are the three, had to do a little detective work)

Tried some things, deleted consist in AE, saved and closed. Opened AE and added consist, still did not appear.
Finally I moved the consist over a couple of tracks, (not the place for it to work in the activity) and presto - there it was.
Folks - this is outta my league. Anyone with any ideas? Still X2811

Player path white arrows. Black X marks track consist should be on for pickup. Large arrow shows phantom consist now appearing. Small arrow in background shows two consist on track that the pickup consist refuses to appear on.

Thanks for the replies. I just downloaded X2824 and determined that the missing consist problem still exists. I did a lot of investigation at this end before starting this thread, but I've yet to find a hint of a cause.

#32874 should be investigated. A consist 'in collision' won't appear. (off end of track, too close to a tracknode and spawning into another train/consist are known to cause this. The move to another track supports this.

Iagree, but the consist in collision was none of the three on the track that had the missing pick up consist.
After I cleared all the errors, moved the consist and it appeared on an adjoining track, I started repositioning the two other consists on the track. That did it.
I "toggled consist direction" for both of them and swapped positions on the track - the missing consist now appears.
So something was interferring with the consist spawning... probably was one of the other consists.

The thing that perplexed me was the fact that it showed up in the earlier stable version without issue. Thanks for troubleshooting the problem. I definitely prefer the train handling in the more recent builds.

I agree with you. It was perplexing to me also. When I opened the AE to take a look at the consists on that track I kept getting a missing textures message. Consist would not show in the AE - usual error you want to proceed nonsense.
My biggest mistake was in not being methodical when I repositioned and switched consists on that track ... so .... I don't exactly know what I did that fixed it.
I ended up using different boxcars for the pickup consist and the other two consist are flipped and swapped positions. They appear now - or did last night. Have yet to see them today.

I love the free camera 8 in OR. Start the activity, goto camera 8, "fly" to where the consist should appear, nope not there, back to the drawing board. Very easy, fun too.
I'm a real amateur at this.
