As mentioned elsewhere on this forum, Dave Babb has generously offered to let Open Rails distribute a cut-down version of a Making Tracks route to help newcomers try out our simulator.
We've chosen the Scottish Capital Express route and an activity which takes a passenger express from Edinburgh Waverley 20 miles to Linlithgow on the way to Glasgow.
With help from eolesen, That Genset Foamer and roeter, we've added some extra prompts to the activity and added a busy timetable too. The track ends just beyond Linlithgow.
We would like to provide an installer but, for now, please download (241MB) and try out the model currently at Google Drive. It contains everything needed, so please unzip it into a folder which is independent of your current models.
Do try out the activity and the timetable and let us now what you think.
EDIT The link was wrong and took you to the full version (which I have now removed). The correct link is here.
Thanks,

I think I would trust Google Docs more than I would trust Symantec.
Downloaded with no problems.

I downloaded the demo.
Lacks some tracks, and ConBuilder reports various errors about .s files lacking-misnamed.
Awaiting update.

Thanks for downloading the demo model.
Please bear in mind that it is not aimed at you - an expert user of MSTS and Open Rails - but at newcomers who have just downloaded Open Rails and have no OR-compatible content to try out. How well does it meet that goal?
When you say that it "lacks some tracks", does that prevent you from running the activity or the timetable? (It is not supposed to be the full product which is over 600MB.)

My main interest is to learn more about timetables.

There is one folder in the trainset that only contains a ENG and a WAG file. No Shapes or ACE files.
There are 7 cabviews that will not display.
The Zip contains 107 additions to the Global Sound folder that should have been placed in the Route unique Sound folder or in Trainset Common.sound folders.
Poorly packaged add-on.

Thanks for the warning peoples, I will look out. I will install to a folder on the Desktop, and have a look at things, and then put them in their proper place...

Hi Simon,
Usually I download and install-unpack to an external USB drive.
Have look at it for potential problems ect then copy to my Msts folder on my C: drive.
Then running Conbuilder and making thumb nails with Route Riter helps to pick up loco-wagon problems.
Taking a bit of time installing does not hurt at all.
Regards Geoff.
