Steam Locomotive - Gearing & Adhesion Functions

Two new functions have been added to the steam locomotive:
Gearing - Fixed and selectable gearing has been added to the steam locomotive - this caters for Shay and Climax locomotives. For details on OR parameters see here. See note below about sample locomotive setup.
Adhesion Monitoring - the current OR Adhesion model caters for diesel locomotives. I have set up a adhesion monitoring function in the steam module. It can be viewed by looking at the extended HUD for the steam locomotive. For the time being it will be a monitoring only function, as I am uncertain as to how to incorporate it into the OR code to "activate it".
As a lot of the MSTS parameters are not used by OR, I am also trying to confirm which parameters are essential in an "OR" only Steam ENG file setup. I have setup the test locomotives on my physics test site with "streamlined" ENG file based upon my investigations. This is a work in progress, and I would appreciate any contributions that assist further definition of the ENG files. See the stock page in the physics section of this site.
A sample Climax and Shay locomotive demonstrating the gearing function are also available for testing on the stock page of the above site.

Hi Peter,
From the rear view key3 I am seeing extremely large yellow or red flashing at about where the firebox is located on the h6a consolidation.
OK from the front view.
Would attach a screenshot but do not know how.

You´re probably using the quick reply mode (you clicked the textbox at the end of the thread). Uploading, however, is only allowed in "Full Editor" mode (click the "USe Full Editor" button below the text-box of the quick-reply mode.Then find the "Click to attach files" button and there you go.

Thanks for the feedback.
My main purpose was to demonstrate the physics for the locomotive, so I didn't change any of the visual effects on the locomotives. (I am happy to attempt to tune them, if somebody wishes to work with me to do so)
In regard to your feedback, I believe that the effect that you have mentioned is a deliberate effect used by many modellers to simulate the flickering nature of the fire in the firebox.

All I can say is that is a mighty fire that you have got going there.
I certainly don't experience those sorts of issues with the loco when I load it.
Perhaps a couple of things to try:
i) Does it happen on a number of routes or just one?
ii) If you change some of the Open Rails video type settings, does this impact the outcome?

That is the fire flicker ace. Far as I can make out so far, it only happens with a select few engines and only in certain places on specific routes.

Yes breakout the Hazmat suits.
I resolved the problem by reducing the radius parameter in the firebox lighting section in the engine file.
