I am working on trying to understand how OR works with articulated wagons such as having a bogie on one end. For example, model BNSF_MaxiIV_211093A. This will be the first car to add to a consist, followed by the C model and the B model. Under Archibald, the A model bogie is assigned a positive value. Is this suppose to represent the front of the model? I am asking because it appears that under OR, the values are backwards. In OR, the bogie for the same A model is represented with a negative number. So a car with 2 bogies, the front is negative and the back is positive. Unless OR is working backwards :) This may not be a big deal, but I just making sure I am understanding the numbers I am working with.

Hi,

My answer comes a bit late, sorry...
One solution to get an accurate behavior of articulated vehicles consist in
- modeling them as separate wagons/engines
- using invisible wheels located close to the pivot(s) between the parts
This is the solution I chosed for my Swiss Crocodiles (initially to make it MSTS friendly in spite of the high polycount of the whole model - around 88000 polys). At the end, I could notice that this eased the handling of the articulations.
The middle part makes use of two invisible axles located at the articulation point/pivot with the front and rear bogies. Thanks to this, this pivot remains centered on the track in curves, and the three parts of the machine are properly aligned as well (at least in OR - in MSTS the motion is less accurate because this simulator doesn't ensure that the wheels are always on the tack, but makes use of the fuzzy description of the SD file rather than of the actual dimensions/locations of the wheels/bogies/body/pivots/... !).

Regards

I downloaded your Crocodile two hours ago.
And the wheels runs backwards.
Using X2515.

I tried a #2515, then a #2518: wheels/torque animations looks OK.
Anyway, on our french forum other people reported issues with rev #2500 and higher (as it is the case here). As for myself, for the time being, I stopped updating OR. I stay stucked to a #2461, and modified it to revert the stuff added to handle articulated vehicles since #2414, which prevents bogies from rotating on most of the stock.

It would be worth reporting the issue to EdwardK, he might be able to solve it, so you can continue upgrading!

Hi Peter,

As for the bogie issue, there is a post and a bug report on this topic already (title may be misleading though). I can let EdwardK know if you think it is necessary.
As for other problems since #2500, I think this is handled in another post too.

Regards
Vincent
