Indeed a great feature to have,
I wonder if we can have light casted on objects from the signals,
I mean, if green, red and yellow signals can cast there respective color lights on the objects that are nearby or passby.

:(

Just like headlight casting an shining which should cast beams in fog also.

But it has to be considered that in reality the signal-lights are not strong enough to cast their shine on nearby objects.
The only shine (and this would even be a weak one) I could imagine is a reflection on the roof of the passing train and within fog.

A light beam in the fog would be a nice effect.

Look at the reflection on the left track catenary of the green signal (not visible in the picture) in front of the train :) (courtesy by Andrea De Berti, railway pictures Facebook group https://www.facebook...8278?fref=photo )

Now guys, I'm no programmer, I'll admit that now. So if this solution is ridiculously stupid? Sorry!

BUT, there is that issue of the signal glow turning into a sun basically, yeah? In theory, wouldn't it be possible to go into the code for the signal glow, and add a line that says 'LimitGlowRadius 2.1' or whatever vlaue is generally agreed to be a good 'max' ?

Some routes use signal textures which 'grow' by distance, in an attempt to create a similar effect as the signalglow is creating.
Using both these textures AND the signalglow means you have a double increase of the signal lights.
To get a normal effect, either use a normal texture (e.g. the default MSTS texture), or switch off the signal glow option.

Rob Roeterdink

Yes, I understand that. However my point is, is it not easier on the end user for the dev-team to edit the parameters of the Sig-Glow option, so that when enabled, signal glow does not exceed a certain radius? That is the point I am making.

The signal light glow is a great feature, is it possible to do the same with headlights on the locos?
