Hi'ya,Frank, wow! Your camera takes cartoon photos!? Very nice set. Reminds me of youtubers posting vids of interminable length freights, viewed from roadside, by a crossing. You could have a four course meal in the time before the EOTD flashes past!

Cheers Bazza.

Cartoon? Those crazy-long trains really exist! I once had a four-course meal, a full stein of beer, and a cigar before the train finished passing

These days every railroad EXCEPT the BNSF has something called PSR and they're making the trains longer and longer. You can easily have a full four course meal in the time it takes to get from the head to the rear end at slower speeds!

Let's get a little "classic" here...Today was a rare day as a bunch of boxcars were pulled from the East end of the Reno Branch* and brought down to Portola, CA., to be joined with the Canyon Crawler (Flyer).

Images 1&2) Overhead the Chilcoot Tunnel (should be named Beckswourth Pass), the train pulls off the Reno Branch at W. Reno Jct., and heads West as a BNSF trackage train holds the main.

Image 3&4) Passing through Hawley siding, the empty boxes meet the UP Business Special seen elsewhere further down the line.

Image 5&6) Arriving Portola, CA., the boxcars meet a Z train at East Portola who just got a fresh crew and is waiting to head East. Image 6 is the rear DPU's of said train waiting at Portola Depot.

Image 7&8) Pulling further into the siding to clear East Portola, the UP1972 West throttles down to keep the empty boxcars at bay behind them.

Regards,

-Frank C.

Long ago it was "The Little Engine that Could", nowadays it is, "The Big Engines that Can".

Pity "The Little Red Caboose", forgotten on an overgrown Dead Line, moldering away.

Cheers Bazza.

PS It's already the First of March, so a little introspection is allowed.

"Shades of Days Gone Bye."

"Pity the Little Red Caboose, rotting away,
"Not required, now the Crummy's had its day,
The ol' brakeman, fleet of foot,
Early retirement he took,
Like the crummy, he too, just faded away."

Bazza.

It is sad! Most of the locals, in sim at least, that I run still have ACTUAL WORKING cabeese! It's better than a 3 point grip on an awkward car for MILES on end sometimes!
