Thank you for the information. I lowered the second value in the first parameter from 5.085 to 4.585, from 4.585 to 3.585, and from 3.585 to 1.585 and did not notice any visual changes regarding the height of the origin of the smoke. I understand that getting the smoke to where I want it will take some further experimenting.

As you've not posted any screenshots of how the smoke looks initially, it's impossible to know what to do, but if you've got the same issue as Train-a-Mania with LS&I Alcos the vertical position will make basically no difference - the smoke is being ejected far too fast and the emission quantity or emission hole size need fixing instead.

Have you had ORTS (that includes the menu only) running during making the edits? With that kind of setup, I have had one or the other problem already (also when using DPU / DSU - RE the problem you had with that program)

Cheers, Markus

The first three values are the X, Y and Z coordinates relative to the origin of the model (which is half-way along the locomotive on the track centreline at ground level, IIRC). X is the forwards/backwards along the locomotive, Z is the left/right sideways position and Y is the vertical position IIRC.

Change the two bottom numbers from .085 to 0.15. The hole is to small and is shooting the smoke to high.

FWIW, some great video for studying the behavior oh smoke mixing with air :)

See about three quarters through the video for what happens on throttling down and up again :)

Cheers, Markus
