I notice with BLW/ZT Locomotives that giant smoke clouds appear above the ALCOS and EMDs. Here is a link to the bug report with a screenshot:

Actually, it's not a bug, but rather a revision of the smoke code to parse the .eng files...more literally. DSU / DPU by Markus_GE is a good program for dealing with it, and otherwise I strongly recommend using the 3DTrains Light Diesel Smoke effect. Beyond that, there's manually tuning the .eng files.

It's an issue much like the "light cones". I manually tune them down to 4-6 degrees and reduce the bright's intensity from "FFFFFFCA" to "40FFFFCA", and reduce the radius.

I discovered the same problem and found that drastically retuning the smoke settings in the eng files works well.

This is what I'm seeing with the LS&I Alcos:

Yikes. Maybe PM Rick and see if it's acceptable to post the .eng files here for testing/inspection? I might be able to get 'em adjusted. I had a similar issue with the VR nA class offa Steam4Me.

That obviously looks very silly, but the physics-related reason why it is happening is that the engine file parameters are producing a ridiculous quantity of smoke for the size of exhaust hole. The result is a ridiculously fast exit velocity - well beyond the range that the graphics are expecting to get.

Anything between 0.17 and 0.23 looks about reasonable for the smoke diameter (the third line in the exhaust stream). I set mine towards the lower end of that range.

Here's what it looks like when adjusted:

You would want to tune down the first parameter, second value. Try lowering it half-a meter (5.085 to 4.585) and if that doesn't do the trick play around with it a bit.

Which of the parameters controls the origin where the smoke starts? Thank you in advance of your help.

The first three values are the X, Y and Z coordinates relative to the origin of the model (which is half-way along the locomotive on the track centreline at ground level, IIRC). X is the forwards/backwards along the locomotive, Z is the left/right sideways position and Y is the vertical position IIRC.
