While more modern locomotives like ТЭП70 or ТЭ116 onwards use that gabarite more full, integrating auxiliary equipment under gabled roof.

Interesting. Gabarite is Loading Outline I take it. UK loading gauge is very low compared to US or Russian.

Driver and his assistant have "aquarium"- like boxes instead of side-windows for not to stuck their heads outside.

Second series after-War diesels had complete wagon case, but almost all other stuff similar to first series and those RSDs
They were front-cab, intended for double-unit service. Exported in Mongolia also.

This model was FIRST pure-SU after-war machine with original (not US-copied) diesel, very soft-suspension bogeys and curved plexiglass windshields. Also, that was first specialized passenger-service engine. This case was used for experimental Gas-turbine propelled units too (Violet-painted)

I have been looking for 3ES5K or 4ES5K locomotives for years, since I saw pictures of them hauling freight on the BAM in Buryatia (particularly near the Severomuisky Tunnel). Is this locomotive publicly available for download anywhere?

Hi Weter,

It is only the 3ES and 4ES versions I am looking for - the ones that have at least one cabless booster unit. I already have the 2ES5K from trainsim.ru.

It looks like that replateck site has a 3-unit version with a booster (3ES5K), so that is what I will look into tonight after work. Thanks!
