That would be a great Addition to OR, with the nice Little side effect of "forcing" you to go into some Details on the other Systems you mentioned. :jumpy:

Cheers, Markus

The interesting thing is while alerter in OR is bound to time (30/49 seconds), the european train control systems' alerter is bound to distance travelled.

(I might take a look on the problem of alerter.)

I disagree. At least Eastern-European trains use a time period: constant value or speed-dependent. If there is an Automatic Block Signaling system, the alerter is suspended if green signal is received. You can also disable alerter when shunting...

Logical clarification: No matter if you say "distance dependant" or "Speed-dependant", it all Comes out to the same: The faster you go, the more often you will hear the alerter Sound in a given time (given you don´t let your Train go into ermergency).

Yes, you are absolutely right, after some researching I see this too. But e.g. my country's train control system cannot be programmed at all using standard MSTS MonitoringDevice, because it is distance-bound, with the distance depending on the signal state ahead. (Normally it is 1550 m. But if there is speed restriction ahead, it decreases to 200 m, with only two possibilities to clear the alarm without achieving a brake hose pressure target value.)

Anyway, the current code of vigilance system is quite tangled, and is in a preliminary state. For example there are two different places the system is checked, with the same code duplicated. I try to rearrange it in a way to let adding other train control systems beyond MSTS MonitoringDevice too.

I made some modifications to vigilance monitor. May I ask you to test if it works better or worse in r1711 than in previous versions?

I have run a brief test using X1712. While I did not have enough time to fully test it, it does appear that the alerter does not activate while the brakes are applied. Also, the amount of time between alerter responses appears to have increased. I'll try again tomorrow when I have a bit more time.

Many thanks for the modification.

Gary

May I ask what those modifications were? Or will it Show in the update-stream published along with the next Long-awaited X release? ;)

Cheers, Markus

Now OR parses (most of) MonitoringDevice entries in eng files. So one can set the timing of the vigilance monitor, reset on zero speed, etc. Implementation of some settings is still missing though.
