We need the community for feedback as well. This next release will be the best we've done so far and is a working running simulator.
Don't be a party pooper, Fred. Join in the fun.

;)

As I said in another thread several weeks ago, OR is THE train simulator of the future, it's just that its day hasn't come yet. Working in the computer industry for many years I have developed an aversion to unfinished software that is kicked out the front door simply because a deadline has been reached. I am assuming that V1.0 will be the final release and V1.1 will have the bugs worked out. ;)

Another reason why I haven't installed OR is that I have a six year old computer with some extra memory. It is state of the art for MSTS but I don't think OR will run well on it. It would call for a big investment on my part. Many others probably share this problem.

By the way I could just see myself saying to my wife "Hey Honey, I need to buy a new computer so that I can play more Railroad games"

My computer is also state of the art ($3,000 gaming machine) as of 6 years ago and both MSTS and ORTS run very well on it. ;)

Christmas gift??? Mine is Pretty new as of last year. To tell ya the truth, MSTS runs terrible on my machine with low frame rates. ORTS on the other hand, runs smooth as silk.

I am at the moment using what could be considered a low end machine, at least I feel it is (paid $300 for it less than 6 months ago), with 6gb of ram running Windows 7 and I did add a upgraded video card to it, and I have been running OR exclusively for the last 3+ months and 0.7 has been working great for me. There are some things coming in the new release, well almost all of the improvements save for a few I am looking forward to and can hardly wait.  ;) Anyway, I have had no major problems with the current release other than some involving overlays and some strange screen shot results, and the frame rates, even on very detailed routes has been phnomical with a high of 256 and a low of just under 70 fps. ;)

The key is that your computer is new.

My computer is 2.2ghz, single core, 32 bits. I have only 2 gigs of memory and on board graphics. :cry1:

It wouldn't hurt to at least try. The worst it could do is say No. I built mine for about $500. Windows 7, 8gig of ram, 1 TB HD, 1 gig graphics card, sound blaster sound card, External 1TB backup drive, and monitor.
