After going through a dying computer and then a heavy work load, I've been away for nearly 2 years. I just got MSTS installed on my new machine, (I've had it for 6 months now, just no time) and ran my first train on my Green Cr. & Defiance freelance route. You may remember I was playing with very large terrtex aces, 4096 and some 2048 sizes. I'd forgotten how good they could look!

On my old machine, running through this section with 3 4096s and surroundings being 2048's, with a modest train, my frame rates were in the 9-16 fps range. The new machine breezes through here at between 49-59 fps! I'll be playing with this a bit, although my time will be pretty limited for a while. Lots of updating to do!

Wow!!! What a beautiful picture Steve. Another one of those immersion shot's like Tim and Jim graces us with occasionally.

I didn't know you were gone but we're glad your back.

I think this picture will be my new back ground for the PC.

Nice to see you back. That must be some great computer you have to get that kind of performance, the type the rest of us only dream about. Good luck with progress on the route, I'll be looking forward to seeing more in the future.

I'ts fun to be back, I've kept up with happenings here, just couldn't really get very involved without a new computer.

I don't know that it's that "HOT" a computer! I bought a Micro Express machine with i5 2500 processor, 8Gb RAM, and a Radeon HD 6670 w/1Gb VRAM. It is far better than what I had, I recently processed a macro photo that was 1.25Gb with no problems! My old machine would still be working on that one!

Now, as time permits, I can continue my quest for better scenery. You may remember my grass growing experiments. To get that crystal clear High, one must be crazy, so I used a 2048 texture for the tall grass. Of course, I've only done the late summer texture, mostly to see how it would look and perform.

I don't have any of my tools on the computer yet, so can't even open an ace file. It'll take me some time to get back up to speed once I do get it all back together.
