Hello Guy
I'm stumped here with this one. How do I find out the track speed? I'm completely embarrassed, but I just don't know where that is. :sign_welcome:

Cheers Tony :oldstry:

Do you mean the track speed limit sections?

Track speed would be how fast the track is moving. I would assume you mean speed limits. Try the F4 key I dont think it is written on the signs as of yet.

The speed limit for the track section is currently unavailable in OR as nearly as I can determine. It isn't included in the F4 display and, as mentioned above, the graphics are not showing on speed limit signs or mile posts.

Thanks Guys
I just a bit confused with that one. I was wondering if there was a button I wasn't pushing. But now I know it's not Me.

Herb is correct; Open Rails does not, at present, provide any speed limits (line, temporary or signal).

The speed limits and speedpost signs are both planned to be included.

Hello James
Thanks dude. I sincerely hope that this will be included in the next release. I've just been fiddling with OR at present, because it is impossible to run an activity without any posted speeds. Please Guys, get the track speeds working soon so that I can really get into it.

A little reply to a similar post on Trainsim.com, I hope it helps..............

It may be worth remembering the that OR is being done by volunteers and it is VERY likely one of the major reasons for an indivduals participation in the project is to get a decent train simulator. As they are not pressured by budgetary limits or time constraints they will release something when they consider it GOOD enough to release.

Patience WILL be rewarded.

Lindsay

And.........................

I know it is tough to be patient considering the progress the OR team has already made (and none of us are getting any younger) but as I said remember these people are doing it because they wish for a good train sim. My expierence with open source is with LInux and these people are only governed by how good they think the result produced by the code is. In open source world the harshest critic of the code is the people writing it. They will release it when they think they have something worth releasing and not before and it will be worth waiting for.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm No pressure here................. ;-).
