Greetings all,
I am at a loss as to how to get screen shots in OpenRails?

Print Screen works if your graphics drivers are cooperative, otherwise you can't. (It works just fine for me.)

Where are the files saved?

In RAM.

If you want them in a disk you have to open a bitmap viewer (IRFAN is free and very good), and then ctrl V to paste the image. Then save it under whatever name you want.

I did as instructed and used my old MS Image Composer

I wonder how many people would prefer Print Screen to simply save a file somewhere? We then have the questions of what image format to use and where to put the files and whether to notify the user.

Make an option to save either in png of jpg and an option to save it any folder declared. That way every one is happy.

How about the first press of the PrtSc key capturing the image and popping up an options dialog and the second press of the same key closing the dialog and saving the image. That way, everyone discovers where the options are and users quickly learn to give a double tap, so the pop-up is too quick to register.

I guess the filename will be incremented automatically and can be reported using the same scheme as F2:Save.

A bit unconventional, but solves a recurring problem that you get in Windows by keeping the options and the capture together.

What do you think?

And, if you keep your finger on the key, you might get a sequence of files from consecutive frames. Not sure if that's actually useful, though.

I use GrabCaptureScreen. It uses the Print Screen key and saves the file as GCS_0001 etc. It loads on boot up and has an icon in the taskbar. The .exe is 916KB in size. Great screen shot maker I think.
