They're going to have to send a wire-greaser out to clean the overhead after that Deck gets through with it.

I haven't done anything to the smoke, it's the wire over the tracks that keeps the smoke hugging the train roof-tops. I kind of like it, but Wayne has sent me a fix to normalize the "problem", but I'm not decided on whether to fix it or not :wacko:

Here's a pic of the three-car set with the final car to be released together in one folder this week...all with the patched sills. Then I'll start on the Santa Fe ice reefers

Some folks like the effect of the smoke hugging the roof tops. Some don't. Here's the fixed files at:

Unzip the files and copy them to the LPS\SHAPES folder, replacing the old SD files that were there.

IIRC, 1924. Around 30,000 were built for the PRR. That's a lot of cars. Consider 1950: only 2 other railroads in the US had more than 30,000 boxcars of all designs (and one of those just barely). So even tho the PRR had a few X29 losses btwn 1924 and 1950, the X29 still dominated the US national fleet... as in you were more likely to see a X29 than any boxcar marked for any one specific road, setting aside NYC and ATSF.

Canada's different tho... the Dominion car (a.k.a. Fowler Patent car) was also built in huge numbers. But cross border traffic was quite small so railfans in both countries didn't see too much of the other country's fleet.

Well, Dave answered your first question, Wayne; the Decapod is available at TS.com. It's by Ron Pertuit, with a great cabview by Rick Grout and Jim Shubsda. Just do a search for Decapod.

Okay, Tom :rolleyes: ....I'm actually glad you posted that pic. I have only found one X29 color photo showing the brown color, opposed to the standard PRR "red', and it's an REA example. That weathering will be a real challenge. I've got a juicey red delicious apple for you.... :wacko:

Tim, that is the standard, light lead oxide PRR Freight Car Red. Their brown paint didn't show up until the mid 50's. And that roof isn't painted black either.

What you're seeing is coal dust and urban grime, typical of the steam era.
