I hate to bust your bubble about Shay's.

We need proof.

I hear what he's saying but I'd like to see him use his big shay to bring the Chief from Chicago to Los Angeles without an engine change in under 48 hours! :thumbup3:

Like you said: Purpose built machines. :p

There usta be a small group of RR Fans that liked to time trains from milepost to milepost
and station to station.

When they started timing Shays, they swapped their stopwatches for calendars!! :p

This is starting to sound like the arguments people have with "Chevy vs Ford" I had no intentions of starting a riot or fluffing anyone's feathers here. (Sorry if I did) Yeah sure, I may have intentionally overestimated the shay, which is my favorite engine. I'm sure everyone has a favorite engine and likes to brag a little, whether it be steam or diesel. :pleasantry: I also like any shay, whether it be std, 3ft, 2ft, 7in, or even HO. I like them all. I don't hate narrow gauge. There is no need to start a argument here.

No, Chevys and Fords are designed to do the same things. Shays and 4-8-4s are not. :) Now if you would have said between a draft horse and a thoroughbred..... :pleasantry:

Hey! When you brag someone may call you on your bragging. And I'm calling you. Prove your statement about Shay's and Northern's. This isn't the first time you've brought this up. Obviously you know something the rest of us don't. So prove it or forget it.

I like lots of locomotives, including Shay's. They are all neat in their own sort of way. All required massive amounts of engineering to make them successful. Some are more interesting than others and some are better looking than others. But all or most made their contribution to their respective owner's.

One of The Berks on Andre Mings Ozark Northern in winter. Testing out the trestles to see if Andre built them good.

And I like "FORDS". :pleasantry:

Make sure you say New York City Poodle "Rick"! The rest of us New Yorkers like real dog's. The kind that will grab the traveling salesman by the leg and leave him bloody or maybe my neighbor if he looks my way. :lol2:
