Ulitizing Rick's great models on an amazing route for the how old it is. 7 years old??? with animated scenery objects and many different sound regions?? Yep, thats just how awesome this route is.
Backing the Mess car, Diner, and Bunk cars up to logging camp 2, but of course the stupid mouse appeared and RUINED MY PICTURE!

Its a long way down. This is after the switch back.

Heading back down to the mainline to grab the loggers and haul them back up the way I just came down.

In the switch back. Straight to camp two, while the track to the left goes to camp one. Camp two is much more fun though.

Dropping the log cars. You can see the cars I had already brought up, along with the static cars that come default. They mildly annoyed me when I arrived the first time with exact same cars.

Back down on the mainline, coupling up with Katie the Caboose again. This caboose is AMAZING!!!!!!!

Looking over my shoulder up the logging spur.

Boy, I've done that a few times myself, Steven. The 6% grades are a good test section. I removed the default bunk cars on the Sumpter route leaving all the track open for my stuff. LOL
Nice pix and thanks... :bigboss:

No wonder I never got up there with an ordinary steam loco. You'd need magnitraction, I reckon. ;-) I never did find what was hidden away in them thar hills.

Wow! Has it been that long since Tim and I put the SVRy together? It's good to see that folks are still enjoying it! I've thought, often, of re-doin sections, but never had the time. I do wish we could change it over to scalerail.

It sure is Rick. Thank goodness your shay has "quick release" brakes. I was in a constant state of "full apply to release, repeat, repeat", going from 15 down to 5, instantly back up to 15, repeat, etc. And that was coming down with just loco's, not taking anything down the hill with! Does anyone know the way shays would do something like this in real life, like what the proper procedure would be so as too make it down the mountain in one piece with a still functioning locomotive? DO they use a dab of reverse throttle to keep it under control or what?

Try setting the handbrakes on all or part of your cars then working brake and throttle against them as you ease down the hill. I'm taking 10 or 12 cars of loads down the hill using the 20' log bunks and dropping them down at 10 MPH. I did this with 24 cars once but the switchbacks and storage sidings are too short for that many cars! :wheelchair:

Yeah, back in those days, there was a brakeman on every car. The loco did what it could and the brakeman did his thing on each car. :mshk:
So, as Herb said, open your F9 window and set the brakes, Mr. Brakeman. :lol2:
(If you can't drive the loco, grab a brake wheel... :unknw: )

Now, how realistically do you want to play this 'game'. :unknw:
My twin beam log cars are from the east where the mountain grades aren't as steep. Hence, these cars have no brakes. :mshk: (It's in the README file, btw.)
(Just another little catch and odd balled model of mine. :lol2: )
Have fun,
