UNITED STATES MILITARY RAIL ROAD FLAT/STOCK CAR #325 Beta

Model Mesh by Tim Muir. Artwork by Tim Muir using Textures.com photos and decals, with much editing in Paint Shop Pro.
According to an 1863 roster of flat cars in USMRR service, there were 14 flat cars converted to stock cars. Number 325 is modeled after the only one we've found a photo of that is clear enough for modeling purposes, with visible lettering and numbers.
The model was made in Train Sim Modeler Pro, by melding the Pennsylvania Railroad 1863 stock car model with parts from the 9-pocket USMRR flat car model and with much modification. It was an interesting job creating this piece of American history, a very unique car. It has four levels of detail.
In my opinion, these were for transporting valuable cavalry horseflesh as they were larger and taller inside and had two sets of brakes, like passenger cars of the period.
