Don't feel bad. I like to drive trains through the snow. It snows in some tunnels.

Yeah, it's a known issue that Open Rails's rain is not made of water and will make it through everything, including buildings and solid ground.

Is it possible to fix?

It is not a "fix", but rather a lot of hard work. So yes, it is possible, once someone will invest that amount of work. Anyone is welcome!

The "rain" isn't falling in the scene, it's falling across your screen and the scene is behind it. Ditto for snow. I guess that makes it a bit tricky to remove from some places, like under roofs, highways, and in tunnels... cuz it's already not actually there, ready to be removed.

Would a stop gap solution be the MSTS trick of switching off the precipitation when the viewer camera is in a tunnel? Perhaps this could be easily extended to car inside views? Not so easy for external viewer camera where you would, in effect, expect to see a rain "shadow".

Here I attach the zip of a modified runactivity.exe that removes rain when camera is underground (so not when it is e.g. under a bridge).
Pls check it, and if it is an improvement to the actual situation I will ask to commit the very simple source patch as a first go.

Well, I've tried it and it seems to operate very like MSTS. Now, is there such a simple solution for the inside view (key 5)? MSTS seems to exclude the precipitation except when viewed through windows, like the cabview works in OR.

I didn't test with view 5...
This should work better, in the sense that when the wagon is within a tunnel, there is no rain in view 5 either.

But I understand you are saying there are raindrops WITHIN wagons when in view 5. This is a harder task to cope with, and I don't think if I'm able to.
