As soon as I can but my PC Sound Card sees to have died so I'll be running round for a replacement tomorrow. At the moment I have to be sociable and watch Inspector De Luca on TV with my wife.

I have had a try with the new patch and it seems to work just like MSTS. Could anyone want more? (Don't answer that).

Yes of course, GNU rules!
Here's the patch
Attachment Norain.cs.patch.zip
but pls. provide a feedback on your findings.

That looks pretty good (the code), I'll try and get this in tonight if I don't spot any issues running it. Thanks!

I've applied the changes (with small tweaks) in X2131. The precipitation toggle on being underground is pretty jarring but it's probably better than nothing.

Yes, it's as brutal as simple as effective...
I've seen that you haven't introduced the change on the cameras file to correctly initialize viewing direction of the passenger view. I put that because there are cases where intializing to viewing direction 0 instead of to the value present in the .wag or .eng file you look at non-existent walls where you see rain dropping.

Yeah, that's a completely different issue and I don't really want to add it back without Chris commenting on why he removed it. ;)

What about situations where the train is under a shed (many larger passenger stations)?

Dunno if it is feasible but it seems long term the answer might be no precipitation in side a bounding box but visible in the distance when you look out. Sounds tricky tho....

Yes, that's the long-term solution, but it'll take a fair bit of effort. I am planning to at least try and do it when I get around to rewriting the precipitation to use real particles.

Chris cannot remember why he removed it. Possibly by accident while I was changing other things :-)

My overtime burden will finally lift by the end of next week so I'll take a look at the notes I made at the time.
