Remembering The Milwaukee Road.

Today it is exactly 35 years ago that the Switcher E82 dropped its pantograph in the yard of Deer Lodge MT. With this action in the early morning of june 16 1974, the electrified operation of the Milwaukee Road was history. To honor the Milwaukee Road, here some pictures of an once electrified Coast Division:
A lazy day at Cle Elum WA.

I hope you like them!

Simon,

I missed this post somehow, but found it this morning. I have to say, you have captured the "feel" of the Milwaukee Road's "heavy interurban" aura there in Cle Elum. Your route is progressing quite well, and when you release it, it'll probably be the only other route I'll ever install. Can you post more scenes?

Thanks for the honorarium, it was a solemn occasion 35 years, 11 days ago.

Oh, by the way, your overhead is excellent.

Thanks for the kind words!

Here are some more on request, I didn't get further then Cle-Elum and the Roslyn Branch of the NP until now. I just finished the Roslyn Branch and it took almost a year to finish this... So it will take some years before I reach Othello. :D

Some miles west of Cle-Elum:

(Don't worry, I'll change the water here)

A few miles east of Cle-Elum:

The Northern Pacific Mainline west of Cle-Elum:

Crossing the former NP Mainline, the line was straightened in 1943:

The NP Roslyn Branch:
Mine no 9, closed in 1963:

Somewhere between mine no2 and mine no3:

Wow, very nice stuff.

You just doing Cle Elum East to Othello? or are you gonna be adventurous and try for Snoqualamie Pass as well, lol?

Be awsome to see Snoqualamie pass done. Still can't believe they turned it into a the "John Wayne memorial Bike Trail", lol. I bet the BNSF Board of Directors are still bashing their heads into the wall over that one.....

I doubt I could do much, as I don't have much programming ability with MSTS, and I don't have alot of time atm, but I do live near the area, so if I can help with information, I could try if youd like (Im pretty near Tacoma and the ex-MLW Tacoma Depot, Now the "Freighthouse Square Shopping Mall" for instance, lol).

Thanks for posting those pics, and GL.

Simon,

From those shots what you are working on will be one of the nicest rendered portions of the Milwaukee Road and it is understandable that it is taking the time you are spending, well worth every second of the time. So, as Tim has said, well worth waiting for no matter how long it takes.

Paul
