On from Mount Airy, the terrain gets crisscrossed with streams and gulleys....

Great shots Rod, as always. Going up the "Hill" with steam is hard, especially trying to pay attention to your work with all that great Ozark scenery everywhere around you. While going up the "Hill" is a real chore with a train, coming down the "Hill" in a motor car with traction breaks is pure insanity. On my altered version of the ON set in the year 1923, the shakedown trip in the leased Burlington Doodlebug was a real learning experience for the crew.

The breaks were positively glowing as the train came down the 4% grade and the conductor in the back was the only one to enjoy the scenery.

They actually extended the station stop in Mt. Airy just to let the breaks cool.
