Hi All,
Thought I'd post a first look at the Springfield Terminal Railway rote I've been working on. The first four of six miles is complete, just about to start Clinton Street in Springfield one of their industrial areas served by the STR. Still need to add parked cars along this portion, just have to solve a problem first.
In an effort to keep frame rates up I'm limiting the use of trackside bushes and have avoided the eager to plant grass everywhere! My weak video card is running in the late teens and early twenties for the most part, higher some places, lower when approaching trackside bushes, but still in the early teens.

Springfield Terminal 17 approached the B&M mainline on passenger only trackage while making it's way to the Charlestown station.
STR 17 meets B&M train 77 at the station.
Linecar 8 passes Seavers Siding and Wiggins Lumber south of Springfield.
Plow 12 works it's way along Route 5 at Whites Hill in the early morning.
Freight motor 20 rolls over the Black River at Goulds Mills.
Linecar 16 holds Middle Siding while waiting for 20 to clear.
STR 20 crosses the Connecticut River and enters New Hampshire while heading to the interchange at Springfield Junction.
Great timing! 20 arrives at the interchange just in time to see B&M train JS-4 fly past.

Paul,
I have had a chance to run it some and this version of the Springfield Terminal is really great. The finished product gives every indication of being excelent and your shots are just dandy. Thanks.

Wow, very interesting scenes along the ST, Paul. I like the bridges with auto traffic sharing with the interurban. Must've made for some rather hairy "meets"! My favorite is the snow plow scene- that's just plain cool (no pun intended).

Hi All,
I was able to take a few shots along the Springfield Terminal back in the spring of '81, was chased down the line by a B&M NW-2 and it's train of three empty covered hoppers. Was just a little strange driving down one side of the Conn River bridge and having a train follow you down the other side. Once more we had to stop at the toll both to pay and had no idea where the train was going to go!
Looks like it's going to be a fun route to run, and a lot easier to create activities for then the FJ&G.

Hi Phil,
I was lucky enough to run into Scotty Whitney a few years ago on a Yahoo group. Scott wrote the two part article on the STR for RMC back in 1999. When I finished the FJ&G and was about to start the Springfield Terminal I contacted Scott and a week later a CD arrived with 400+ photos, track charts and diagrams, plus Springfield Terminal public time cards. Much easier to try to keep it "real" with that kind of help!

Okay, okay, enough already. All this cool electric stuff is about to drive me to be a traction nut! It certainly is a wonderful addition to the "regular" RR routes and rolling stock.

Hi Norman,
Can't say I was ever interested in electric equipment until a few years ago when I discovered a few Springfield Terminal shots on the internet. I was well aware of the diesel days of the line, even started a small HO layout back in the '80s. Started an electric layout about five years ago but my soldering skills are, well, missing so they layout never happened. Nice thing about MSTS... no soldering involved!
