I recently bought a new scanner, that allowed me to get decent scans of some overexposed 35mm negatives from about 1940. They are by Tom Miller, who was a very young fireman on the Northern Pacific at this time. The negs, along with many others were left to me. This bunch were rolled up in strips of 5, and stuck in a film can for 50 years. Tightly kinked? You bet, like a coil spring! They tell a nice little story, although the shot of the engine spotted, is really the last rather than the first shot.
