Demo Model 1 has been around for 10 years and was donated by Making Tracks Ltd.

Several people had a hand in cutting it down from a full-size route from Edinburgh to Glasgow to a smaller 20 minute run which is quicker to download. It also has prompts to help a complete novice get started.

Mrmosky (Geoff Rowlands) has donated a 3D cab for the loco in the single activity (changing it from a Class 27 push-pull arrangement to a conventional train pulled by a Class 47).

DarwinS (Darwin Smith) has worked over the brakes and replaced MSTS files with Open Rails ones for a more accurate siimulation.

This new version replaces the previous one and you can use the Testing Version of Open Rails to auto-install it. The old version is still available at https://static.openr...emoModel1v1.zip

Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.

After having removed the previous version installed this route.

Testing with:

I think I see odd behavior for the values of the brake cylinder (BC). After pressing escape it starts with:

Then it slowly goes down to zero:

Whatever I do it never goes up again:

Is this a bug?

There is something wrong. I just downloaded from this page https://www.openrail...tent/index.html which should give the new version. It doesn't. It is the old version with non-functional brakes. Hopefully this can be fixed. A quick check is then the new version does not include "suppression" in the brake model. When you press escape you should get "Initial". For some reason initial gives BC 0 psi at start up, but if you release and reapply then you should get

I did download the via the automatic content install. This will download https://static.openr.../DemoModel1.zip. They are both the same size, so I guess they are the same.

Thanks, Darwin, for finding this. It looks as though I've messed up.

Please send me again the files that should be changed and I'll replace them.

This should work.

(1) Delete any "OpenRails" subfolders in the trainset folders.

(2) Install the TRAINS folder attached, overwriting any existing files.

This updates the class 47 and class 27 and passenger cars used in the intro activities.

Other rolling stock used for AI trains is not yet upgraded to OR physics.

hi Darwin,

Currently creating a Getting Started for the OR website based on this route. For testing I need this route.

Question, which folders should be deleted by action (1):
Attached Image: Capture.JPG

I did create the route by just issuing action (2). The Brake Cylinder (BC) values act correctly now.

regards, Siebren.

I think there is only one OpenRails sub folder.
This is Trainset > MT_DD_CLASS_47_47706 > OpenRails

This is the only folder that needs to be deleted.

The "Demo Model 1", as downloaded with the Content Manager on July 8, only has an environment file for summer-clear. Yet the menu allows other seasons and weather to be selected, resulting in an error.

Hello, C44.
Alas, that's true.
Authors warn users in README files, when their routes don't have winter, autumn, spring textures.
Selection another, than summer/night conditions will cause CTD likely.

I did do a test with installing the TRAINS folder attached. But that gives a BC of zero after the startup. That's a pity, because I'm writing a Getting Started where I learn the first time user to release the brakes and wait with throttling until BC is zero. But BC is already zero. And that makes it confusing. Could it be fixed?

Tested with the latest unstable U2025.07.15-1507. Then the locomotive "MT Class 47706 BR Blue" after starting OR has a BC of 5:

Attached Image: Capture.JPG

That looks ok to me.

How can we be sure this fix makes it to version 1.6?

Downloaded this from the OR website two days ago and tested today. Trying any of the timetable runs gives an error "essential folder is missing", seems the BR_MK3 is not in the common.include folder?
