In the old days we'd use ImgBurn to create an "ISO" file that represented the whole CD.
Then we'd use Virtual Clone Drive to "Mount" the ISO file so it appeared as a CD to the local system.
It's been years since I've used either tool, but it could be another option for those looking to preserve an install of MSTS.

Hi Jack@Elvas
Thanks for the suggestion. Will try it. Nothing else has worked. My system is haunted by gremlins.

Hi,
I don't think the suggestion by Jack@Elvas would work because the two CDs (or .iso files) have to be the same drive.
You need to copy the contents of both CDs into the SAME temporary folder, allowing the one overwrite (if you're using v1 of MSTS, there is no overwrite option).
Using program Folder2Iso (https://www.trustfm....google_vignette) select the temporary folder to create an iso file anywhere you like (but NOT in the temporary folder you just created!). The .iso file can then be mounted in Windows, then select the 'mounted' drive so that the files and folders are shown in Explorer, and run setup.exe as an administrator.
I have no connection with the creators of Folder2Iso except as a long-time very satisfied user!!
Cheers,
Ged

I have created a file named msts.iso on a flash drive. How do you 'mount' the usb drive? This is a Win 11 pc. Right or left mouse clicking on the drive or the file does not bring up any option to 'mount' the thing.
Guessing that there is no built-in means...so a virtual dvd software third party program is needed?

Thank you very much.
FYI: the link(s) were very helpful. As usual it was user error that messed me up. The file extension "ISO had been previously associated with the software that burned those files to a cd/dvd (though I don't recall ever doing it), I have had to use the "open with" option to get explorer to see the contents of the iso.
Thanks again.
