All of a sudden when I try to open up the Station and Platform names display in my Chiltern route I get an error message and the simulation crashes to desktop. I have tried this with a couple of different activities and still get the problem so the issue is not with a particular activity. I have checked with other OR routes and f6 opens the display correctly so it looks as though the problem is being caused by something that has gone wrong with the route as this problem is very recent and did not happen in the past. Unfortunately, I do not have the technical know-how to interpret the log file, which I attach.

The error message begins with "System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null." and this is what appears towards the end of the log file.

Can anyone help please?

Martin

This problem occurs when one of the two pyramids of the platform or siding is not on the corresponding track.
For unknown reasons, sometimes one of the platform or siding pyramids excursions to another part of the route, if the tile where this platform or siding is originally located is loaded and F6 is not activated, the error does not occur, but if This F6 activated, Open Rails crashes.
Check this situation with Track View (look for a platfrom or siding that only has one name in the station) and correct the error with TSRE

I haven't found any faulty platform or siding markers yet. I did find one corrupt speedpost marker but eliminating that has made no difference. F6 still crashes. Here is the error message.

I was mistaken about the speedpost. Any attempt to delete it crashes TSRE. So I now have two problems!

What kind of errors does the TSRE log show?

Randy

If I remeber well, this can occur when a platform or a station or a siding are defined, but have no name. An empty string evaluates to null, and this generates a crash.

Docmartin, can you drive through the area with F6 off?

The problem with the patfrom may be in any of the tiles that are loaded when the train runs. With a vision of 2000 meters, the tile where the train is and the eight that are around it are loaded.

That is the OR log, tsre has its own log.

Apologies Randy, I didn't read your post carefully enough! I was not aware that TSRE had it's own log file so I have learnt something today.

Anyway, I am glad to say that both my problems are now solved. Xavi was absolutely correct in that the problem was caused by a corrupt platform marker. As I said, I was unable to identify the offending marker but another trainsimmer also hailing from Spain, Mauricio, sent me a PM showing me where the problem marker was located. It turned out that one of the pyramids had decided to wander off to an adjacent track. Deleting this marker and replacing it with a correctly positioned new marker has solved the F6 problem.

As for the speedpost which crashed TSRE when I tried to delete it, I was able in the end to do so by (1) deleting the relevant entry in WORLD tile and then (2) in TSRE displaying Track DB Items and deleting the relevant black cubes, which safely deleted the entries from the tdb file.

Thank you to everyone who took the trouble to reply to my request for help.
