Here is a video one of my friends made about Steam Locomotive whistles that I not only found interesting but possibly helpful to the Open Rails management team and the coders. The reason being is I have been wanting a way to have multiple steam locomotives on one train to be able to blow there whistles as a way of communication to each other! This is essential as this was common practice during the steam days and still used today on tourist railroads. Another thing I would like to see with locomotives is the ability to have multiple whistles/horns blown on one locomotive as many locomotives in the preservation era along with many steam locomotives had more then one whistle/horn on them. One more thing I would really like to see from Open Rails when it comes to sound design is echoing and quelling of the whistle. Now I know this may be challenging but it may be possible as seen in this video! Yes this is the only game that has it and it is still in beta forum! They have also invented it specifically for this game the way they have done the quelling in the game but it just shows that it can be done and possible in the future!

The folks working on the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis 576 project have put out a very interesting Android app that can demonstrate how quillable whistles can potentially work in ORTS.: Whistle Sim.

I loved the sounds from this app--very clean I might add--that I even borrowed the sounds for use on my experimental one-piece Challenger!
