It appears that OR is always defaulting to the coefficient of friction for Cast Iron brakes, even though the wagon files have been modified with friction data appropriate for composition brakes --- I cannot find any mention of implementation of a specific ORTS parameter referring to ORTSBrakeShoeType.

I have noticed this verbose message on the wagons I've modified with using Joe Realmutos ORTSBrakeShoeFriction data set for composition brakes.

The verbose message also appears in the log for Erick's NAVS wagons, and the rolling stock from TrainSimulations SP Shasta route.
In the manual it states:

Quote

Advanced Adhesion SELECTED and additional user friction data HAS been defined in WAG file - OR applies the user defined friction/speed curve.

Advanced Adhesion was selected in all cases. Is this a bug? I know nothing about brakes, but I believe Joe, Erick and the crew over at TrainSimulations do!

Information: Unknown BrakeShoeType set to OR default (Cast Iron) with a MaxBrakeForce of 26.3 k
(Note --- I may be missing something, that's always an acceptable possibilty. )

Try ORTSBrakeShoeType ( "Cast_Iron_P6" ) or ORTSBrakeShoeType ( "Cast_Iron_P10" )

Try BrakeShoeType( "High_Friction_Composite" )
