Hi gang, I'm trying to set up a speedometer that moves in both directions depending on direction of travel. These were uncommon, but did exist atleast in Sweden, my unit is a variation of that.

Try as I might, I'm not getting the results I'm after. I've animated it in both directions, set the scale range, and anything else I could think of. Is OR capable of simualting it at all?

Screenshot of it moving forwards while the loco moves in reverse, the needle should move the opposite direction!

Am I missing something in the cvf?

Hello.
At least, it shows negative speed readings on HUD.

Did You try Scale Range ( 220 140 ) ?

Unfortunately for this case, a speedometer always uses the absolute value of a train's speed, the direction will not matter. A new cab view control type would need to be added to show negative speeds.

Aww, bum. That's sad news, I hoped I could make a unique-looking speedometer.

Would it not be possible in future to add another way for OR to read speed so if the minimum value in the cvf is negative, it animates the needle in the opposite direction with halfway through the animation cycle treated as the center, like it does the cutoff lever?
Or an additional variable for scale range? Like ( -140 0 140 )?
