Apologies if this has been explained before, elsewhere, but my searches here turned up nothing.
Is it required that locomotives need air brakes in order to switch cabs? This feature isn't working on my 1860's locomotives, (but does on anything with air brakes):
It would be nice to be able to get into the following cab, so that I can activate the forward coupling link. Or, it would be neat if the front link could be activated from "outside", by clicking on it, sort of reversed from the key stroke "U" and a mouse click on the coupler for uncoupling.
Anyway, thanks for looking.

Hi Tim,
I don't think air brakes, but the train does have to be stopped and in neutral to switch cabs.
Paul :-)

Thanks, Paul. Those requirements are met. Stopped and in Neutral, throttle off.
In the meantime, I think I might make the front coupler a Pantograph so I can use that key command on following units instead of the MirrorArm which doesn't seem to work for following locos in the consist. Should be OK for these old timers.
I'd still like to be able to switch cabs, tho.

Odd the cab switching would only work with air brakes. Are they coupled Tim? If not you would use Alt + 9, then select the engine from the list that appears. I don't have my Windows 7 machine at the moment (it's at the doctor's) or I'd tinker with it to see why it isn't working.

They are a consist of just the doubleheaders and they open in the sim coupled.

At a first glance in the code the conditions for a cab change to occur are as follows:
ThrottlePerCent < 1
Abs(SpeedMpS) < 1
Reverser in Neutral (for steam locomotives ReverserPerCent <= 1) .
I don't see conditions related to braking.

It turns, Your locomotives weren't centered.
As revercer in cab of 4-4-0s has 14 notches, why not to set the same for these models?
I did so for #270.
