Hi.
Just did a 'duck' search for Blender & Open Rails and found this thread.

Did some testing on Blender 3.5.1 and thanks to the examples
(and the good error reporting from the plugin, when I Appended the 2.8 blend's object in a new 3.5.1 empty collection), it was easy.

JUST FYI: I've had no issues with the exporter since its release for 2.8+.

I had trouble getting a new password, after 10-15 tries I gave up some months ago.
This time I got a match after 7-10 tries.

I'm new to Blender, last time I used it was a decade ago, and therefor had no clue
what version of Blender above 2.7 has major changes to the py script engine.
And since others might be in the same situation i felt this thread needed a update.

Only caveat is the Blender 3.5.1 version I'm using runs on Windows 7-64
and is from https://github.com/n...u/BlenderCompat
And the Open Rails version I'm using for testing is 1.4
I can't imagine that this would influence anything.

Amazing: And it seams like breaking the exporter or Open Rails is not easy :-)
or even effecting my CPU(10% in use rending hole scene)
must be very efficient with one large S. file, maybe it has few render calls
vs. many small S. files = many render calls, or something.

Adding 300.000 more vertices (Ninja ripped Uboot to the above file.
Still no problems what so ever, CPU/GPU is totally silent.
Anyone see an 450MB S file working before :-)
Looking at the beautiful Siemens Vectron is only a 2.5MB S. file + 2.5MB anim S. file
So it safe to say there is plenty of room to build anything realistic.
I will now go look for a 3D cab template, 3D Cab SDK, or Shapeconvert a existing one into Blender.

I've got the DF11G3DCab into Blender and the exporter export without errors, but I see a lot of difference in exported S file
such as:

matrix MAIN ( 1.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 1.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 1.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 ) vs
matrix MAIN ( 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 ) - Original

prim_state FRONT_HLIGHT_0_0_blank ( 00000000 vs
prim_state ( 00000000 - Original

anim_node tcb_rot + linear_key
anim_node tcb_rot only in original

So do the exporter work with 3Dcabs at all ?
Since there is no mention of 3Dcab in MSTSExporter Instructions.pdf

Assuming it does: I would love if somebody, who know what there are doing, could take a look at the attached blender pack

since I've got no clue what is irrelevant and what is important, such as order of the hierarchy in blender (Is sort them alphabetical by default)
Or the stuff above or if it will ever work, no matter how much I manually edit the S. file to look like that original.

Getting people hooked: I've just spend a full week on creating amazing stuff in Blender 3.5 for another 20 year old game,
simply because i got hooked, and i got hooked because I could import a game asset make a small change export it, and seen the change.

So I think the if the MSTSExporter Examples pack got a 3Dcab it will do that for Open Rails and 3Dcabs.

The link below has a locomotive with working 3D cab view. It's not beautiful, nor an example of best practice, but it is functional and exports from Blender and runs in Open Rails. It may, or may not help you.

In the ending of the movie City Slickers where Billy Crystal point to his face as says look what I found,
that's where I'm right now.

This thing is beautiful and advanced, and it even has a Open Rails logo on the side, i mean have you seen the Df11G3DCab.zip the manual links to.
This feels like a pro product, and it answers all the questions above and teaches me new stuff, such as
the Include in the eng file that's neat, eg. all the light in one isolated file and more.

So Yes Campbell's Blender exporter works for 3D cab also.
and all the stuff in the S file that got my attention since the DF11-3dcab did not render was irrelevant(matrix, Prim_stats & anim_node)

And this thing works directly without any manual editing of the controls _0_0 to 0:0: as stated in the 1.5 manual
"15.2.2 A Practical Development Example For a Digital Speedometer" seams to be based on 4letter word Gmax, now that I read it again.
Don't the writer of manual know about Campbell's plugin and your train.

I've already moved the SPEEDOMETER:0:32+QUANTUM and exported 5 times and is trying to find the right spot for the digits in relation to it's origin.
So I know it works and I'm getting hooked, and making a 3d cab for this Siemens Vectron is my goal.

Thanks again, this was much more than I expected, since I was 50/50 for the exporter working for 3Dcabs at all.
