I'm running the activities from the SLI Horseshoe Curve pack using today's daily update, U2023.06.03-2352, and the train brakes have become ineffective when going down a grade, even after placing the brakes into emergency.

It's been a while since I ran this activity, but I do remember the creep up to the tunnel ( in winter-snowing ) and then having to make sure the speed was kept slightly below 10mph ( line speed is 15mph ) and applying the dynamics early before exiting the tunnel, even then it took some skill to keep the speed within limits before reaching the 30mph zone on the downside. I'd usually end up with some combination of train brake and dynamic.

I'll try to download the OR version you indicated and run it again. I looked at the log and did not notice anything, although I didn't give much attention to your settings...

>CorrectQuestionableBrakingParams = (user set) True

I would not use this setting, I would rather fix the problem.

I have just run the activity and it runs fine for me. I am running the ORMG 142.3

You do need to balance the dynamic and friction brakes to get down the hill.

Thank you for pointing out the "questionable braking parameters" switch, I did not realize that it was turned on.

So, I just tried the same activity again, only this time using the latest daily release, U2023.06.04-1722. Very similar results; once the entire train was on "The Slide" (the mile-and-a-half of 2.4% that begins at the beginning of the New Portage tunnel) the train continues to accelerate despite full dynamic brakes and increasing train air brake applications up to emergency.

I do not doubt that you got better results using ORMG 142.3, when I tried this same activity using the "weekly" release, I was able to keep the train under control using a ten pound train brake application plus the dynamics.

I first noticed this issue on Friday. If there has been some recent coding involving the brakes, perhaps that has resulted in some unintended complications.

Can you provide a screenshot of the FORCES INFORMATION HuD for both the current Unstable version, and the weekly version that you think is ok, with the brakes on the same setting.

Thanks

Thanks for that.

Can you also provide a couple of WAG files.

Just tried the same activity again using the most recent daily release, U2023.06.05-1852
The train brakes are still too weak to keep the train under control while going down "The Slide".

I have now made an adjustment to the latest Unstable version, and hopefully this should restore it to the original operation.

Please confirm.
