Hi All,
I have been setting up some lights for a diesel loco. For a loco used for an AI train, I need a light to be on only at night. Using the 'TimeOfDay ( 2 )' entry the light operates correctly only at night with MSTS. When using Open Rails, the light is displayed at all times. As a test, I entered it as 'TimeOfDay ( 1 )' so it would operate during the daytime only - again, Open Rails shows the light at all times.

It appears that OR ignores, or doesn't even read, this parameter.

For information, daytime was 12:00 and night 03:00 for my tests (I know OR sometimes has problems knowing whether it's day or night but I think I was pretty safe with those times :))

Is there a solution, or am I doing something that OR doesn't like??

Cheers,
Ged

The flag seems to be (well or badly) managed by the OR code. A code debug session should be performed by a developer to check what happens.

Ged,
I took the default dash9.eng and added the TimeOfDay ( 2 ) line to the left and right flashing lights, and started a test activity. During day the lights don't flash, and during night they flash. So I see a correct behaviour. ORNYMG 141.1, but I expect the same for every OR version.

I can concur the 'time of day' has been working for years. All my AI train sets that have separate headlights use this feature.

Maybe an error in the AI engine file Ged?

Thanks

Hi,
Thanks Carlo and Coolhand101 for your very prompt replies.

I must apologise for reporting a non-problem :sign_sorry:

I repeated Carlo's experiment with the default Dash9 and (as you would expect) got the same results. I then went back to my loco and everything worked OK. All I can think is that last night, I made some changes to the lights after I'd reported my supposed problem, but didn't test them!!

For information, I'm using OR test version T1.5.1-376

Cheers,
Ged
