This is a reply to Dave’s post Different OpenRailsLog.txt files on Identical Runs #2 which has the topic locked.

Programmers have to compare files all the time using a Diff editor which is normally part of their IDE. However there is an open source program WinMerge that works similar to Beyond Compare. Which allows comparisons of files, directories, and hex files. In addition it has image comparisons of png files.

Also note that if you use the CONTEXT editor for the ENG and WAG file highlighter, that CONTEXT has a native ability to compare 2 text files in the IDE.

It has been my policy for 20 years NOT to lock topics and I've no idea why that was locked and I've removed it. I'm hard pressed to think of anything more insulting to members than for an admin to come along and lock up their conversation -- even in cases of flamefests I give everybody a chance to type their last word, no replies to each other.

Don't worry - nothing is removed there.

Pete posted twice, so I deleted the duplicate.
