This is an interesting period on the PRR, when the road began experimenting with new ideas for motive power. The Civil War era forced railroads to make the best use of what they had on hand already. This was just when the Pennsy and the B&O started their standardization programs, too. The No. 129 is fascinating to look at, but it's too bad it was a failure, having been said that it spent more time on the ground than any other engine on the road. It's an engine I've considered building.
I like that suburban engine a lot, too. The type was improved over time and newer versions were constructed along the same outline.

Thanks for the interesting article Frank. I'm trying to find that issue of the Gazette at the moment, but my connection to the Internet Archives, where there are digital copies available, is terrible for some reason.
