No matter what I do and install with different skydomes and weather files, I always get some more or less overcast and slightly foggy gray weather. Sometimes I'd like to drive with blue skies and sunshine, but that's not possible even in "summer" with "clear" weather. Is there something wrong with my settings? Has anybody beautiful clear weather and could tell me how to achieve that?
Weather very dull

The OpenRailslog.txt which by default is saved to your desktop reports all your settings at startup. If you would upload your log file here we could see where your settings are different.

Skydome.Png, which is being provided with ORTS installation has minor amount of "fog".
That's why, even setting clouds and fog to zero (shift-minus for fog and control-minus for clouds, the default sky will never be clear.
Our chilian mate uploaded fine clear sky textures, so you can use it.
The topic's name contained words "change vacuum", so as I have no time now, You can try and search it.
Later, I'll help You with pointing on mentioned zip.
Also, try out different clouds from TS.com: some of 7 are boring, but 2or 3 are quite nice.

To reduce overcast you must press multiple times Ctrl- ( by - I mean the key at the right of the 0 in English keyboards), and to reduce fog you must press multiple times Shift- .
If that is not enough you can use ORNYMG, that further reduces fog (also by pressing Shift-).
You can also try checking the MSTS Environments option.

Hi, Carlo.
It's possible to press combinations continuously, and check weather page of HUD to ensure, that fog&clouds reduced to zeros, but, it's impossible to eliminate fog completely for default sky dome (don't know, about ORMG), because it's painted on texture. Chilian sky's are free of fog, and very bright-blue, that's why I recommend that. There are two variants.
Here is th link, Hannes.

Hope, the link is still works.
It's dated two years ago.

Setting back clouds and fog to zero was not possible because they were at zero. I installed the alternative skydome (thank's for the link, Weter), that helped, but now I'm looking for some nice looking clouds. The clouds I have installed are repetetive and drawn out in length, not really a nice sight.

Glad.
Look at trainsim.com (3 variants, one good) or at replatek team's site (7 variants: those 3+ another two good)
And I recommend to You very much to try stardome textures from Trainsim.com too.
Stars are precisely reproduce real night skies and their size is real, not as tennis balls.

Hello
The monotony can be improved with the dynamic weather written in the activity or with weather-or files created for timetables.
