Hi Folks,
Thanks for the responses.
Yeah - this is a bit of an experiment for me. I've been looking at this route from a modeler's perspective and it's quite amazing. The vast number of high-quality models included in this route is staggering. The detail extends far from the tracks. Most of the models include excellent textures with proper shadowing - which makes a difference. Below is just some random crossing in the middle of nowhere - on a route that extends for more than 100 miles. Note the detail - detail which we don't see often over here. This level of detail is maintained for the entire route - including through the massive and densely populated city of Cumberland MD.
We need "lofted" or "spline" objects so bad in ORTS. I love all the wire work.

As for the vegetation - it's a combination of 3D animated objects up close - with 2D face the user objects further back. The transitions are seamless and unnoticeable unless you go looking for it. It makes for some very convincing foliage. AND NOTHING FLICKERS = game changer.
Even the streetlights truly illuminate everything that passes under them in the night.
The physics seem far weaker than ORTS - as the train's friction and starting force seems way too low. The braking on this route has been improved with the use of custom LUA scripts.
3D Cabs are so much better than the 2D cabs we typically use and adds a whole new dimension to immersion. It's going to be hard to run 2D cabs again.
My biggest gripe that is easily correctable - is it seems like very few - even among their best payware developers - know how to properly weather and texture locomotives - their products are all super clean with oversaturated colors - almost cartoon like.
This was well worth the $30.00 (including the Simulator itself) it cost me to try it. The route itself is FAR better and more immersive than any commercial product I've ever seen for MSTS/ORTS. If I could only get our trains/physics/activities/signals/timetables on this route [sigh]...

Scott

Scott,
I have no idea what simulator this is.
Looks really good. Is this something you own and can modify or is it subscription or?
I've only been attached to MSTS/OR for 20 years and haven't earnestly looked at other sims, other than in passing.

Hi Randy,
I've purchased and tried other sims but they don't normally hold my attention for long.
This is just DTG's old RailWorks product they simply rebrand every year - now it's "Train Simulator 2022" or "TS2022".
The "TS2022: B&O Subdivision" was built by a team of 3rd Party Developers.
If interested - this video spends almost two hours going through the route and all it entails - which is what sold me on trying it.
"B&O Mountain Sub"

When TS2022 is on sale you can get it for less than $10.00 on Steam - - - never buy anything on Steam unless it's on sale.
The route was recently on sale and I spent $22.00 on it - it's back up to $40.00 - it has a pretty large assortment of rolling stock included.

Thay have sales pretty often.
