@ Scott
Complete work, masterpiece...
Impression of painting
what to say

Maybe...
Turn one of that signals green - that would symbolize HOPE and future/both red are... how to say... you know?

@ Travis
I like idea of multiple images:
Maybe background or watermarks?
Though, it will inflate 28MB *.pdf to 100?

Green signals, all clear ahead...good, and how about less cloudy...some blue sky.

Multiple trains is winning variant, indeed, classic.
But, for me-not for very outside cover.
Neutrality, seems better.

Ask for pardon:
Who is Neils?
Anderson?

@ Gerry
Can be only one signal green. (Rules)
(awaiting for express to pass in minute or two)
Or both're not visible to observer...

Sky? Just tweak of gamma...
What about an Eagle?

Hi Weter,

“Neil” goes by “qballbandit” on TrainSim and he’s royalty - in the ORTS Sceenshot Forums - as far as I’m concerned. He definitely shows us all what ORTS is truly capable of - by presenting a very realistic view of our train sim world. As a community - we really need to get away from the cartoon like oversaturated color pallets that have been with us since MSTS’s inception.

Regards,
Scott

Agree

Oh Geeze much better...that road could be anywhere...and it conveys the feeling of "Open Rails" and has the advantage of non-alienation -- eggcellent!

Overall in agreement with your post.

Hi Gerry,

Thank you - sir.

I hope you got that Xbox controller working to drive your trains - it massively increases my enjoyment of Open Rails.
:)

Regards,
Scott

Thanks, Scott: I see now - not Nels Anderson at all.

What for me, i didn't complain to faded sky.
It symbloyzes our misty outside world.
Hence, green dot there would be welcome.
All red would look, at least, as very little chances.

Strange to me, that this Artist never goes here.

How about using some of those new high resolution - shadowed - ORTS logos I created? I'd like to contribute SOMETHING to ORTS.

Since it's for OPEN Rails - I think the box around Open Rails should always be - - - open (relative to the positioning on the artwork)

I do like the open box approach to the logo. Very neat.

Now that the MonoGame conversion is done, we are hoping to manage a 6-monthly release, so the front cover could change twice a year, making a nice showcase.

I also like the idea of an appropriate image to introduce each chapter. I think we could spare a few bytes for that :-)

Chris, please consider one of "qballbandit" ( Neil ) screenshots for the cover or something like it.
I've also seen some beautifully detailed and realistic countryside shots of track from European routes, there's just something appealing ( to me ) in this type of picture that conveys the feeling of Open Rails.

The last cover presented a photographic space that was immediate, direct, and closed -- ....no room for the viewer to roam around in.

IMPO ( "in my professional opinion" -- nothing humble about it http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/derisive.gif ) we need something with open space, that the viewer can occupy with their imagination and whatever other visual imagery they bring to the photograph. City-scapes can be too confining...reminiscent of crowds, traffic, noise, a closed space.
Scott makes a valid point about the color palette of the whole scene and the sky.

I'm pleased you are open to the other ideas...but ideas are cheap, compared to the time and effort required to move them into the reality of the manual --- thanks for your efforts. http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/sign_rockon.gifhttp://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/hi.gif

Thanks to you and Scott for the recommendation.

I'm now waiting for a response from Neil.

Hi Chris,

I've spoken to both Neil and Rory. Both have consented to the image being used.

Neil took the image and Rory is the route builder of the beautiful Blackfoot Sub from which the image was taken.

I can send you their PM's if you need confirmation.

As mentioned previously - if you want higher resolution or mods - just let me know.

Regards,
Scott

I've downloaded it and will now try to incorporate it into the manual.

Thanks for making this possible.

Hi Chris,

The least I can do for you and the Development Team - who dedicate and donate thousands of hours building and managing an application that brings joy to so many of us.

Happy to help in some small way.
:)

Scot
