Or you can install the dx9c that we used to do.
This contains all of the dx7 code for msts and dx8 and 9 code for other old programs.

Have found some way extended recommendations for running MSTS and 3-rd party utilities under w7 onwards: use some of online translators if needed. They say, Steam4me also offers advices about that.
