So to try learn what all the new faffle is about I picked a private project as a subject to make OR-compatible. It could keep steam decently in its MSTS configuration but now it's struggling to cope with steam and water falling even when worked moderately. The new ORTS data is calculated from measurements of the 3D model itself using volume calculators.

Running flat out, she won't go any faster on the level with a train. Steam production 6.6t/h, steam usage 3.6t/h and boiler pressure still drops?

Max speed without a train and the throttle set to not slip (wheelslip warning keeps appearing as speed increases past a certain point, requiring constant decrease of throttle, is this a bug?), I'm not even using a 3rd of the steam production, and "heat in" is higher than "heat out", yet the pressure's still falling post the time of screenshot.

When having the safety valves lift the pressure keeps rising by a few bar, then stabilize and drop. After they close the pressure keeps falling and in some cases it never recovers even in AI fireman mode. Is this realy how safety valves should work in game? (This happens on other locos as well)

So is this my eng file or OR doing something wrong and how do I make my engine keep steam and water while keeping it "realistic"?
