Can objects be animated from the DAT files? Specifically the Speedpost.dat?

Thanks to Open Rails, night textures can now use entries from the speedpost.dat, where as in MSTS, it wasn't possible!

I have a temporary speed restriction warning board, from the Speedpost.dat file, that has a flashing white light. However, I cannot find a way to animate this object. If it's an ordinary static object, the animation does work via the route editor's "animate object" box is checked!

Is there a manual way to edit the shape file to allow a permanent animation?

Thanks

Redefining the problem!

When placing a speed restricting zone in Activity Editor, You get the start and end of the restricting zone displayed on the OR track monitor. On the route, and depending on your shapes, you get a warning, commencement and terminating speed shapes.

I have a animating warning board that has a flashing white light(2). In Shape viewer, the lights flash when selecting the animation. In OR( and I also believe MSTS ), the lights do not flash. Hence the reason asking if animations work from shapes in the speedpost.dat file? It appears they do not, so is there anyway of editing the shape file to permanently display the animation( Flashing white lights )?.

Thanks

I had a short look at the code.
For standard scenery objects OR derives from the .w file entry whether the object is animated or not; if yes, it creates an AnimatedShape entry, and if not it creates a StaticShape entry.
Temporary speed restriction shapes haven't a .w file entry, so by default OR creates for them a StaticShape entry, and therefore does not animate them.

Hi Carlo

Thanks for the confirmation on this. Maybe one day, this method can work!

Thanks
