ORTS/MSTS Amtrak #3 Southwest Chief 1995. I take you back to the Fall of 1995, specifically September 1995, just before parents Burlington Northern Inc. and Santa Fe Pacific Corporation were acquired on September 22, 1995 by the new Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation. At that time Amtrak's #3 the Westbound Southwest Chief still operated on the Chillicothe Subdivision of the ATSF. There are 13 AI trains that you will meet in your journey across the sub, but the Chillicothe is double-tracked all way to Ft. Madison, IA. However tonight there is a track gang working on the South Main (East Bound) in the town of Chillicothe. This work has forced a Single track section of about 3 miles in the middle of the route to contend with. The activity ends when boarding is complete at Ft. Madison, IA.
