Now here's a new problem with the Load Map Tool. I click Load Map, and select Raster Images Z17 as normal. Now I get a No data from the network message. Clicking Z18 causes the editor to crash to the desktop. Now I'm confused.

I have this SAME EXACT problem and I have a good API key.

Anybody know how to fix this? It would really help me out on my Chicago-area route since the OSM feature isnt working anymore.

I just have Google Static Maps API key.
1. If you have just google maps key, it will not work. It must be static maps.
2. Maybe your URL in settings.txt is wrong. I see sometimes people putting stupid values there, like latitude or longitude and TSRE crashes.

Since 16 July you will have to configure payment account for maps services to use API keys. So it will be even more difficult.

Since I can't upload a text file for some reason, here's a link to the file at hand. Can you review it and tell me where I went wrong?
Settings.txt

Everywhere :)

URL should look like:
imageMapsUrl = http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/staticmap?center={lat},{lon}&zoom={zoom}&size={res}x{res}&maptype=satellite&key=YOUR_KEY

for example:
imageMapsUrl = http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/staticmap?center={lat},{lon}&zoom={zoom}&size={res}x{res}&maptype=satellite&key=ATcaERt5vvSraYMs7y_A3uMT3sT3L1fdt1At7g9

Thank you Goku. It works now. I copy+pasted everything before the = and input the latest API.
Whoever is updating the manual, please take note of this.

I can't put the google link in TSRE software or manual because using google maps this way is piracy.
You need custom license from google for this type of use.

I totally understand where you're coming from on that issue, Goku. But at least mentioning a how to while pointing to this thread can't possibly violate those terms, can it?

Hello. In the 0.8.005y version of the editor, loading the earth's Mapbox surface looks like this. What is the problem?

Using MapBox requires an offset value in the Settings.txt:

imageMapsZoomOffset = -1         /// required for MapBox

This is due to a difference in what Google defines for Z17 resolution and what MapBox defines as Z17 resolution.
