I have a question that does not plan to do to open rails ENG switching for multi-system locomotives.

You can set up an electric locomotive on one system.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you are referring to locomotives that have duel power sources? That is, an engine that can use diesel power and then switch to electric? Or even tri-power: diesel, electric overhead and third rail electric.

for example czech locomotive
363 - have two systems - 3 kV ss and 25 kV, 50 Hz
371 - have two systems - 3 kV ss and 15 kV, 16,7 Hz

locomotive
ES 64 F4 - hawe four systems - 1,5 kV DC and 3 kV DC and 15 kV, 16,7 Hz and 25 kV, 50 Hz

Meant were trolley voltage :-)

I think that having multi voltage engines is not needed at this point in time. For the purposes of train simming, electric is electric, no matter what the voltage is. It would probably need a dedicated code section plus extra scripting to do, not worth the time right now.

Yes, but I think just switching ENG
ENG either 3 kV DC and 25 kV 50 Hz or others

ENG is still setting the locomotive and its performance

There is no point in doing this. There is no provision in route building to make different voltages within the same route, and nothing in the game to let neutral sections be used between voltage changes. I would like to see the ability to switch between diesel and electric, and 3rd/4th rail to overhead. I do not think we will see any of this type of thing for quite a while.

Actually, there is a good reason for wanting to do this. Typically multi-voltage / frequency electric locomotives will have a different power output depending on the system they are getting their power from. Therefore the request being made is reasonable. It will probably come a very long way down the list of priorities, but it is relevant.

It's mainly a European thing, quad system electrics are getting quite common. The Skoda 109e is probably an example the op would think of, though all the manufacturers will have their own products.

There are not only multi-current locos, there are also dual power locos (diesel + electric).

There are other things one could do with switching .eng files (or switching power outputs) on the fly . . . for example, simulate a locomotive loosing power during the middle of an activity.

To do this would, I think, need the electric engine code to be redone in the same way that the steam code was completely redone to provide fairly accurate output. Then the diesel code would have to follow, or precede, to provide the dual power locomotives. So, OK, there is reason, but it is definitely not something urgent.
